Boxborough Select Board Approves $5.6 Million Bond Notes, Sets 2027 Town Meeting Dates
BOXBOROUGH — May 26, 2026 — Boxborough Select Board approves $5.6 million in bond notes and sets 2027 Town Meeting for the Regency. The board voted unanimously 5-0 Tuesday to approve the sale of two series of General Obligation Bond Anticipation Notes: $424,000 at 3.25 percent to bankHometown and $5,165,910 at 4.00 percent to TD Financial Products LLC, the latter carrying a premium of $57,496.58. In a separate 5-0 vote, the board adopted an updated Sustainable Purchasing or Environmentally Preferable Procurement Policy introduced by Assistant Town Planner Ian Gilson, who noted the update was needed to maintain eligibility for grants due the following week and aligns the town with MassDEP standards. The board also set the 2027 Annual Town Meeting for May 10 through 12 at the Boxborough Regency Hotel, with Chair Kristin Hilberg warning that next year's meeting is expected to be "a big one," likely including an override vote; Town Meeting Moderator Dennis Reip reported the just-completed 2026 annual drew approximately 161 voters and finished in a single night for the first time in at least 40 years. Hilberg and Member Sam Anderson were authorized to draft a letter to state conference committee members urging a review of the Chapter 70 education funding formula, prompted by advocacy from Acton-Boxborough Regional School Committee member Tori Campbell.
