Select Board · Meeting of October 26, 2026
Boxborough's Select Board kept a single property tax rate for fiscal 2027, raising the average homeowner's bill by $570.61 to $14,941.61. Principal Assessor Lynda Cajka recommended against splitting the rate between residential and commercial classes, telling the board a split "wouldn't be beneficial for the town of Boxborough" given its shrinking commercial base; the board voted 5-0 to adopt a residential factor of 1.0 and declined a residential exemption, open space discount and small commercial exemption. Separately, the board unanimously appointed police officer David Curran, accepted an $8,576.40 Municipal Road Safety grant, and set a 20-year useful life for two transfer station compactors financed through a $60,000 bond, with member Kristin Hilberg saying she'd "rather do 20 years and get it done sooner." The town's fiscal 2027 tax levy is $29,041,918, with the average single-family assessed value at $953,517.
