Conservation board ratifies Flamingo Market tree order

Conservation Commission · Meeting of September 16, 2026

Boxborough Conservation Commission ratifies enforcement order against Flamingo Market for unauthorized tree clearing. Chair Elizabeth Markiewicz said the commission will seek the fund's usual $10,000 ask from the Community Preservation Committee this year, with a balance near $64,000. Owner Kier told the board he removed a hazardous tree near his building because "I have a tenant upstairs — it's leaky up there," and members agreed the building department's failure to refer him to the conservation office meant "that's really not on him." Separately, the commission closed its hearing and unanimously approved an amended order of conditions for an equipment pad at 1146 Massachusetts Avenue, correcting a filing that had overstated impervious area at 289 square feet instead of 189.

Markiewicz also flagged a roughly $20,000 proposal for a beaver-dam flow-control study near Hager Bridge.
