Boxborough DEIC Elects Robert Stemp Chair, 3-0

Boxborough's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee elected Robert Stemp chair in a 3-0 roll-call vote Thursday, deferring a clerk nomination until absent members return. John Fallon nominated Stemp and Joy, a newly appointed member attending her first meeting, seconded the motion; the roll call was required because Joy joined remotely. Stemp told the panel its newly revised charge, reviewed by the Select Board and Town Administrator Mike Johns, directs the DEIC to see that "all employees, all residents are treated fair and equally," and said Director of Land Use Alec Wade will present a draft state grant proposal, developed with the Economic Development Committee, at the panel's next meeting.
Membership has fallen from a minimum of seven to five, and Fallon called recruiting new members "the biggest priority." The committee set its next meetings for October 7 and November 25, both at 7 p.m., working around Veterans Day and Public Celebrations Committee conflicts.
