Boxborough Select Board closes FY2026 warrant, recommends 28-plus articles in marathon session

BOXBOROUGH — February 24, 2025 — Boxborough Select Board closes FY2026 annual town meeting warrant and recommends more than 28 articles in a session that ran past 10 p.m. Monday. The board voted unanimously on articles totaling more than $2 million in proposed spending, including a $1.2 million bonded fire department pumper truck, an $80,000 fire department utility terrain vehicle, a $20,000 Modified Boxborough Emergency Assistance Program to replace expiring ARPA funding, and a $50,000 town share of a $250,000 Sargent Memorial Library interior renovation. Board member Dave Bohn announced he and his wife will sell their home and relocate to Cape Cod, with his resignation effective May 19 — opening a three-year and a two-year Select Board seat on the spring ballot. Several articles were held for additional information, including a Taylor Farm Road parcel acceptance awaiting anti-precedent language requested by the Finance Committee, a DPW pickup truck pending hybrid vehicle research, a veterans tax exemption cost-of-living article pending assessor input, and an uncashed-checks tailings article for which the treasurer has informally estimated approximately $22,000 in unclaimed funds.
