Boxborough Select Board Accepts Vore Land Gift, Sets May Town Meeting at Regency

BOXBOROUGH — December 8, 2025 — Boxborough Select Board unanimously accepts water-resource land gift and approves new assessors charter. The board voted Monday to accept a parcel from the estate of the late Ray Vore Sr., whose daughter Kathleen Vore presented the deed signed by all 10 family heirs, conditioned on Conservation Commission approval at its December 17 meeting. The property, which includes a fire pond Vore dug himself, lies within the Zone 2 recharge area of major Acton wells and will be held in conservation with conditions allowing future development as a cistern or drinking water well. The board also unanimously approved a charter creating a three-member Board of Assessors — appointees must complete a Department of Revenue online training course under 830 CMR 58 within one year — and reappointed interim assessor James Doherty through March 31, 2026. On the budget, a preliminary FY27 presentation showed estimated revenues of $31.4 million against Budget A expenses of roughly $31.2 million, a thinner cushion than Finance Committee Vice Chair Tony called credible: "I think it's going to be at least very, very close, if not over" the levy limit without an override.
