Zoning Board Approves Sign Permit for Liberty Square Road Site

Zoning Board of Appeals · Meeting of February 3, 2026

Boxborough Zoning Board approves first-ever sign permit for Liberty Square Road business. The Zoning Board of Appeals voted 5-0 Tuesday to grant Don Sign Tech Inc. a special permit for signage at 1220 Liberty Square Road, a property staff said has never had a permitted sign. Conditions require the building commissioner to confirm the sign's final placement outside the public right of way and an as-built drawing once installed.

Board member Mark Barbadoro, who chaired the hearing, said publishing the board's recordings "helps keep us honest" about the consequences of members' actions. Colleague Michael Toups called the move "the best thing that's happened to town government in a long time." Abutter Mark Forgus told the board he had "no problem with the signage" but used public comment to flag an apparent ownership change next door. The board also approved January 13 minutes 3-0 and voted 5-0 to publish a backlog of five to six past meetings.
