Finance Committee unanimously backs 984 Mass Avenue for new fire station

Boxborough Finance Committee unanimously recommends Special Town Meeting articles for fire station. The committee voted 6-0 on January 13 to endorse four STM articles, including approval of 984 Mass Avenue as the site for the new fire station and $20,000 for acquisition costs. Fire Chief preference and emergency response times favored the Mass Avenue location over a Stow Road alternative.
The committee also approved recommendations for architecture and design costs and Regency-related added expenses, and corrected the January 6 minutes to reduce reported school committee savings from $9.8 million to $1.874 million.
