Boxborough Select Board Approves Six Contracts, Accepts 72 Stow Road Fire Station Site

BOXBOROUGH — April 28, 2025 — Boxborough Select Board approves six employment contracts and formally accepts 72 Stow Road as its fire station site. The board voted 5-0 Monday to ratify contracts for the town assessor, building commissioner, land use director, and three union bargaining units — DPW, fire, and police — following negotiations led by Town Administrator Mike Graziano that began last October; contract terms were not disclosed publicly pending full execution. The board voted 4-1 to accept the Fire Station Building Committee's unanimous recommendation for 72 Stow Road, with member Wes Fowler casting the lone no vote, saying "I'm abstaining from recommending it at town meeting — it's different than accepting their recommendation." The board also voted 5-0 to create a health insurance stabilization account for the Acton-Boxborough Regional School District, to be funded with between $300,000 and $600,000 returned from the former Acton Health Insurance Trust, covering mid-year enrollment costs that fall outside normal budget cycles. School Committee member Adam Burney reported the House Ways and Means budget raised per-pupil Chapter 70 add-on funding from $75 to $150 for hold-harmless districts including Acton-Boxborough, and the board agreed to send a signed letter to State Representative Dan Sena urging support for further formula amendments before a Wednesday House vote.
