Boxborough Select Board Appoints Five At-Large Members to Fire Station Building Committee

BOXBOROUGH — July 15, 2024 — Boxborough Select Board seats a five-member fire station building committee after 24 residents applied for the volunteer positions. The board voted unanimously Monday to appoint Joan Blaustein, Mary Brolin, Sarah Lovato, Eric Mishneves, and Mac Reed as at-large members, with Select Board member Priya Sundaram and Finance Committee member Maria Nealon filling designated seats; Fire Chief John Kivlin and Town Administrator Michael Johns were named non-voting ex-officio members, all with terms through June 30, 2027. Chair Kristen cited Sundaram's sustained community outreach — manning booths at town meeting and Pfeiffer's Day — as the deciding factor, quipping, "All good deeds must be punished." The committee's first meeting is posted for Wednesday at 7 p.m. and its first task is ranking seven Owner's Project Manager qualification packages already in hand. The board also directed staff to obtain camera quotes and erect no-motorized-vehicles signs at Liberty Fields, where ATVs or electric scooters caused minor tire-track damage to the nearly $2 million newly renovated facility.
