Boxborough Conservation Commission Approves Preliminary CPC Application, Defers Campanelli Letter

BOXBOROUGH — September 17, 2025 — Boxborough Conservation Commission advances larger-than-usual CPC funding request and declines to act on Campanelli letter. The commission voted unanimously at its September 17 meeting to approve a preliminary Community Preservation Committee application seeking more than the $10,000 the commission received in prior years, citing upcoming grant opportunities and conservation restriction monitoring needs identified at a Mass Land Trust Partners legislative session. Staff said the preliminary application is due September 25 and the final narrative application is due October 30 for Annual Town Meeting 2026. Separately, the commission declined to draft a letter of support requested by Campanelli Properties for a Planning Board special-permit amendment to the company's roughly 25-year-old master plan. "I'm not in favor of drafting or sending a letter of support without a presentation to this commission on the project," one member said, also raising concerns about past management of an existing conservation restriction on the property. Staff will contact Campanelli about presenting at the October 1 meeting; a hearing at 745 Mass. Ave. was continued to the same date.
