Zoning Board grants two-family conversion permit to Liberty Square property.

Zoning Board of Appeals · Meeting of January 13, 2026

BOXBOROUGH — Zoning Board of Appeals unanimously grants two-family conversion permit to Liberty Square property owner. The Board voted 5-0 to approve Kathleen Vorce's Special Permit to convert an existing single-family dwelling into a two-family home at 555 Liberty Square Road in the Agricultural/Residential District, with the second unit occupying approximately 944 square feet in a barn structure. The property, documented as an 1890 dwelling predating 1965 zoning, sits on multiple acres and will maintain its single-family appearance under the permit terms.

Staff confirmed no traffic, utility, or environmental concerns and noted the conversion will create an affordable housing unit well below regional construction costs exceeding $1 million per unit. The Board also unanimously approved revised Zoning Board of Appeals Rules and Regulations.
