Boxborough Well-Being Committee extends rental aid to 16 households, marks a retirement. The committee voted 4-0 to recommend continuing the town's 12-year-old Boxborough Rental Assistance Program, currently budgeted at $69,000 in Community Preservation Act funds, into fiscal year 2028. Member Al Murphy said the program now serves 16 households, up from about 10 to 12 in past years.
Community Services Coordinator Wendy Trinks warned new SNAP and MassHealth work requirements taking effect January 1, 2027, will create what she called "a big paper trail nightmare" for residents. Member Bob Stemple said a state grant will cover 100 percent of water betterment charges for three homeowners' associations near Fox Road, with assessment charges potentially dropping 40 to 60 percent from an original $3,700 per household. A longtime town staff member identified only as Kim announced her retirement effective November 13.
