Select Board tables Planning Board appointment pending joint interviews

Select Board · Meeting of March 2, 2026

Boxborough Select Board unanimously recommends 19 FY27 warrant articles and approves $139,093 in Community Preservation Fund allocations. The Board tabled a Planning Board Associate Member appointment to allow joint interviews with both candidates, Nathaniel Stuntz and Mark Barbadoro, after Member Wesley Fowlks raised Open Meeting Law concerns. The Board increased Conservation Trust Fund allocation to $25,000, rejecting Finance Committee Member Maria Neyland's recommendation for $10,000 on grounds that funding transparency concerns should not drive the reduction.

Separately, Chair Kristin Hilberg stated she will not discuss the Town Hall Friday opening policy pending union negotiations, citing concerns about revealing the Town's negotiating position; Member Samuel Anderson requested Town Counsel clarification on whether the January implementation was a board or management decision and whether it is locked in place.
