Select Board appoints three to Board of Assessors with longer terms
Select Board · Meeting of January 26, 2026
BOXBOROUGH — Select Board appoints three to Board of Assessors with staggered longer terms. The Board voted 3-2 to extend appointment periods from six months, 1.5 years, and 2.5 years to 18 months, 2.5 years, and 3.5 years; Jennifer Jones, Jennifer Barrett, and James Howie were then unanimously appointed for terms ending June 30, 2027, 2028, and 2029, respectively. Chair Kristin Hilberg cited insufficient training time under the proposed shorter schedule; Member Wesley Fowlks and Member Samuel Anderson opposed the extension as potentially limiting future candidates.
The Board closed the Special Town Meeting Warrant and approved Article 3 for firehouse land acquisition closing costs, while opening the Annual Town Meeting Warrant.
