BOXBOROUGH — Recreation Commission approves prior minutes and hears Landry Field planning update. Town Planner Alec Wade presented an environmental assessment finding that the 22-acre parcel contains a river, wetlands, floodplain, Aquifer Overlay District, and endangered species habitat, leaving only 6,000 square feet suitable for development without restrictions. Wade recommended a fitness park and accessible pathway, but Chair Hilary Greven and members noted the town recently installed a similar facility at Liberty and determined pursuit of a National Fitness Campaign grant would not be viable.
The commission discussed alternative uses including an arboretum, recreational fields, and a dog park, and Wade recommended consulting the Conservation Commission before proceeding.
