Planning Board narrows plastic bag bylaw for town meeting vote

Planning Board · Meeting of May 18, 2026

BOXBOROUGH — Planning Board recommends narrowed plastic bag article for town meeting. Chair Rebecca Verner said the Board voted unanimously to advance a phased approach to Article 7, focusing on plastic bags only and deferring other plastics to a future warrant article. Town Planner Alexander Wade reviewed language from legal counsel removing provisions not specific to plastic bags, and the Board amended the article to strip all references to food establishments.

Public commenters Heather Fleming and Joe Ferguson of Old Harvard Road supported the revision.
