BOXBOROUGH — Planning Board approves MBTA zoning amendment to maintain state funding. The Planning Board unanimously voted August 3 to approve a bylaw amendment correcting a spreadsheet error in the MBTA Communities Overlay Zoning District, increasing density from 13 to 17 units per acre (netting to 15 units per acre) and raising affordable housing requirements to 20 percent. Town Planner Alexander Wade said the correction is necessary to remain eligible for state transportation funding.
Board Member Mark White backed the minimal compliance fix rather than expanding district boundaries, citing pending state zoning law changes. The board also unanimously scheduled August 31 public hearings on revisions to state Chapter 40A amendments and a proposed data center moratorium.
