BOXBOROUGH — The Fire Station Building Committee voted unanimously to proceed with a one-story design for the planned fire station on Massachusetts Avenue. Finance Committee representative Maria Neyland moved to adopt the one-story design, with Alan Ford seconding; the motion passed 6-0-0. Town Administrator Mike Johns reported that the purchase of 984 Massachusetts Avenue is on track for a July 17 closing, with inspections completed and the ALTA survey underway.

Neyland noted that a two-story design would save approximately $300,000 in costs, but Fire Chief John Kivlan preferred the one-story design for its direct apparatus-bay access, which he identified as critical for rapid emergency response. The committee scheduled a community design update for July 23.
