Finance Committee deadlocks on fire station site recommendation
Finance Committee · Meeting of January 6, 2026
BOXBOROUGH — Finance Committee split evenly on fire station location, deferring the choice between 72 Stow Road and the pricier 984 Mass Avenue site to the March town meeting. Chair Antony Newton moved to recommend 984 Mass Avenue at an estimated total project cost of 2.8 million dollars, roughly 2.8 million more than the Stow Road alternative, but members John Greven, Maria Neyland, and Newton voted aye while Michelle Ryan, Joseph Stulpin, and John Connor voted no, creating a 3-3 deadlock. The committee will present recommendations both for and against 984 Mass Avenue at the warrant hearing.
Separately, members unanimously approved a conservation grant article combining 30,000 dollars in state funding pursuit and 30,000 dollars in warrant authorization.
