Finance Committee approves FY27 budget, backs warrant articles
Finance Committee · Meeting of March 17, 2026
BOXBOROUGH — Finance Committee recommends 30-plus warrant articles spanning millions in capital spending. The committee voted nearly unanimously to back public safety investments including $400,000 for fire breathing apparatus, $320,000 for fire radios, and emergency management AED units for 25 locations ($160,000), along with police academy training ($60,000), integrated permitting software for the assessor and building department ($116,000), and Other Post-Employment Benefits reserves ($300,000). Four articles were deferred pending language revisions, state standards updates, and determination of current revolving fund balances.
Employee unionization talks require revision of FY27 budgets as first-year union contract terms remain unclear.
