Boxborough Select Board awards fire station project management contract to Vertex Companies
BOXBOROUGH — August 5, 2024 — Boxborough Select Board unanimously awards fire station owner's project manager contract to Vertex Companies, LLC. The board acted Monday on a recommendation from the Fire Station Building Committee, which interviewed three finalists — Vertex, CHA, and Turner and Townsend — at a session that ran until nearly 11 p.m. on July 31. Committee Vice Chair Mac told the board that Vertex's approximately 30 completed fire station projects, proactive approach to grants and incentives, and a quantitative site-selection scoring matrix separated the firm from runner-up CHA. Town Administrator Mike said contract negotiations with Vertex Project Executive John Lemieux were already underway and a full proposal was expected the morning of August 6, with a goal of presenting a finalized contract at the Fire Station Building Committee's August 29 meeting before a Select Board vote on execution. The board also accepted the resignation of committee member Eric Mishnevez, a registered professional engineer, and directed the town administrator to contact former applicants with engineering or architecture credentials to fill the vacancy in time for the board's August 12 meeting.
