Boxborough Select Board Approves Littleton Water Deal, Makes Seven Appointments

BOXBOROUGH — June 12, 2023 — Boxborough Select Board unanimously approves water line deal with Littleton under tight federal deadline. The board voted 4-0 Monday to approve an inter-municipal agreement with Littleton for a water main extension serving roughly 540 property owners and approximately 1,100 residents on the western side of town, with all parties under an EPA-imposed June 30 financing deadline. Corey Godfrey of the Littleton Electric Light and Water Department told the board "there's no wiggle room whatsoever" on the State Revolving Fund requirement, putting the full project in jeopardy if signatures are not in place within 18 days. The board also made seven appointments, including Sarfaraz Mushtaq as a part-time police officer and three former Finance Committee members or alumni to the Boxborough Building Committee. Town Administrator Mike Johns acknowledged an unusually heavy end-of-year budget transfer package for FY2023 — approximately $212,000 in interdepartmental transfers plus a nearly exhausted $150,000 reserve fund — and committed publicly to holding FY2024 legal spending to $100,000 of a $130,000 appropriation.
