Boxborough Select Board Approves $1.13 Million Bond Note, Delays Fire Station Town Meeting
BOXBOROUGH — November 25, 2024 — Boxborough Select Board authorizes $1.13 million bond note and delays fire station town meeting to March. The board voted unanimously Monday to approve a $1,132,000 bond anticipation note sold to Fidelity Capital Markets at 4 percent interest, consolidating two road-work appropriations — $300,000 each from the 2023 and 2024 Annual Town Meetings — and a $532,000 replacement fire tender approved in 2023. The board also voted 4-0 to reschedule a Special Town Meeting from February 10 to March 18, 2025, at the unanimous request of the Fire Station Building Committee, which told the board its engineers need more time to complete phase-two analysis of the two remaining candidate sites. Town Administrator Mike said the meeting will present a single recommended site and seek design funding, with a full construction bid to follow at a later town meeting: "It won't be an estimate. It won't be a plus or minus. This is the cost of the building." Board member Bob Stemple also announced that Boxborough has received its official Green Community designation from the Commonwealth under Massachusetts General Law Chapter 25, Section 10, crediting Francie Nolley for leading the multi-year effort.
