Boxborough Planning Board Extends Codman Hill Road Hearing to August, Eyes Aquifer Conditions
BOXBOROUGH — July 10, 2023 — Boxborough Planning Board extends Codman Hill Road trade shop hearing and debates Campanelli campus future. The board voted 5-0-1 on July 10 to continue the public hearing on a proposed three-unit trade shop building at 400 Codman Hill Road — submitted by Stamps Game McNary on behalf of French Brothers Boxborough LLC — to August 21 at 7:05 p.m., after the applicant received a peer-review letter from the board's consulting engineer the morning of the meeting and conservation commission permitting on a turtle nesting habitat remains unresolved. Board member Cindy Markwitz, who requested a separate agenda item on the Campanelli commercial campus, said she was "very disappointed" in the landowner's informal phase-two master plan presentation, which she described as roughly 580,000 square feet of high-bay flex industrial space with "no amenities" for the town, adding "I don't think there are any benefits associated with 580,000 square feet of high-bay flex space." The board directed town planner Alec to solicit input from other municipal boards and committees on preferred uses for the site, noting that the special permit granted roughly 25 years ago has expired and its renewal is not a foregone conclusion.
