Boxborough holds ceremony marking 25 years since 9/11 attacks

Boxborough marks 25th anniversary of September 11 with remembrance ceremony. Select Board Chairman Stemple opened the town's annual observance, thanking firefighters, police officers, EMTs and paramedics and saying the board wanted to honor those "who gave their lives" in the 2001 attacks. A second Select Board member recalled learning of the attacks while running a young contracting business and said state officials gathered "on the steps" of the State House this year in bipartisan remembrance.
A resident who said he now interviews and hires firefighters told the crowd, "We vowed to never, never forget," noting some recruits were not yet born on September 11, 2001. No town business or votes were taken; the gathering was purely ceremonial.
