Boxborough's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee elected a clerk and set recruitment as its top priority at an October 7 Zoom meeting. Members voted 5-0-0 to appoint Brenda as clerk, with the committee's chair continuing to lead "unless someone else wants to be" chair. Guest presenter Abby, assisting the town's Economic Development Committee, told the group its "Village for a Day" survey had just launched and would need DEIC help with focus groups once data collection ends.
The chair said the committee has about five members and wants to grow to seven, saying "we always wanted an odd number." Member John reported the Public Celebrations Committee has already locked in three year-end events: Veterans Day, a December 5 Holiday Fest, and a Hanukkah celebration. The committee also discussed asking Police Chief Schick to help arrange a Holocaust Remembrance Day speaker on January 27, and adjourned 5-0-0 after scheduling its next meeting for November 18 via Zoom.
